Dvd Volume
I have a new DVD player recently, and the volume level is very different from television.?
Standard TV volume is about 15-20, where the DVD player need to be in the range 40-50 to be sufficiently audible. So every time I can switch between DVD and TV, television sound to my ears. I tinkered with the audio in two hours and hours and nothing seems to correct this. Is it just a standard thing with televisions and DVD players? Please advise.
It appears that your DVD player has an audio output which is significantly lower than the tuner on your TV (or any other device you play on your TV). I found my DVD player does the same when the volume is much smaller for a given volume setting on the TV when I watch cable TV (through the box). It is also possible that in the DVD audio is not compressed, as it is in the TV signals. This can be annoying especially when I have to increase both the volume to hear the dialogue and then there's an explosion or something strong that I have to lower the volume. Then increase the volume, down, up, down ... during the passages silent and strong. I also found that when watching DVDs, it sounds much better when you turn the center channel a few dB. Most of the dialogue and the main steps audio through the central channel. Thus, if the audio is low, try disabling the center channel audio.
