The various blood groups:
The differences in blood types are due to the presence or absence of certain antigens and antibodies. Antigens are substances (for example, a toxin or enzyme) that stimulates an immune response in the body, especially the production of antibodies. Antigens determine the blood types found on the surface of red blood cells and antibodies in the blood plasma.
More than 20 genetically determined systems known groups blood today, but the ABO and Rh are the most important, with serious clinical consequences. Not all blood types are compatible.
ABO blood group system
According to the ABO grouping blood system, there are four types of blood groups A, B, AB and O is, zero.
• Blood group A: If you belong to blood group A who have type A antigens on the surface of red blood cells and antibodies against type B blood plasma.
• Blood group B: If you belong the B blood group is type B antigens on the surface of red blood cells and antibodies against type A in blood plasma.
• The blood group AB If you belong to AB blood group has two type A and type B antigens on the surface of red blood cells and no A or B in all antibodies in blood plasma.
• The blood group O: If you belong to blood group O (zero), who have neither the antigens of type A or B on the surface red blood cells, but both type A and type B antibodies in the blood plasma.
Rh blood according to the grouping system
Rh factor is also an antigen and those who are called Rh +. Those without it are Rh-. A person with Rh-Rh has no natural antibodies in the blood plasma, but a person Rh-blood can develop Rh antibodies in the blood plasma, if he or she receives blood from a person with Rh + blood, whose Rh antigens can trigger the production anti-Rh antibodies. A person with Rh + blood can receive blood from a person with Rh-blood without any problems.
Blood typing: How it works
The blood test is mixed with three different reagents into 3 different tubes, each with three different antibodies that is, an antibody, B or Rh tube in which agglutination indicates that the blood has reacted with antibodies present in the tube. Based on patterns of agglutination, it is very easy learn your blood.
Blood transfusions: Who can get Whose blood?
You can always donate blood type A blood group of type A, B, blood group with a person with blood group B and so on. Transfusion of work if the person receiving the blood has a blood type that no antibodies against blood donor. But if a person getting the blood contains antibodies against antigens of the donor's blood, the red blood cells in donated blood was pooled.
