Cons Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an American television series, a supernatural drama that has been transmitted 10 March 1997 until May 20, 2003. The series was created in 1997 by writer and director Joss Whedon under his production label, Mutant enemy productions later co-producers Jane Espenson executives, the fury of David and Marti Noxon. The narrative follows Buffy Summers (played by Sarah Michelle Gellar), the last of a row of young women known as Slayers. Murderers are chosen by fate to fight vampires, demons and other forces of darkness. Like previous Slayers, Buffy is aided by an observer directs, teaches, and trains. Unlike its predecessors, Buffy is surrounded by a circle of friends known as the "Scooby Gang."
The series usually reached between four and six million viewers in the original transmissions. Although these scores are lower than shows the success of the "big four" networks (ABC, NBC, CBS and Fox), which were a success for the relatively new and smaller WB Television Network. Critics of the program were positive, and served as # 41 in TV Guide's list of 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time and # 2 in Empire 50 Greatest TV Shows of All Time. Buffy was also voted number 3 in TV Guide TV 25 Top Cult Shows of all time and included in Time Magazine 100 Best TV Shows of All Time. He was nominated for an Emmy and Golden Globe Awards, winning a total of 3 Emmy Awards. The WB network ceased operations September 17, 2006, after airing an "homage" to his "most memorable series", including the pilot episodes of Buffy and its spin-off Angel. Buffy's success has led to hundreds of tie-in products, including including novels, comics and video games. The series has received attention in fandom (including fan films), parody, and academia, and influenced the direction of other television series.
